All schools must raise the attainment of less privileged children, including those in affluent areas, England’s children’s secretary says. Mr Balls will tell the Association of School and College Leaders a new report card system will show how schools are improving individual attainment. Only a quarter of pupils on free school meals go to school in “deprived areas”.
